Cost Controller

We are looking for a new team member to fill the position of Cost Controller at CanMine reporting to the General Manager. This opportunity will allow you to work closely with senior leadership in the execution of our projects and our business.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Carry out project budgetary planning and cost monitoring for unit rate contracts
  • Prepare monthly cost control and project progress reports, cost variance analysis reports, change logs, and dashboards
  • Ensure that project scope is managed through documented and approved change orders
  • Ensure project close-out and archiving requirements are completed
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process and collect input from all team members
  • Prepare monthly financial WIP review and review and update project financial forecasting reports with accounting representatives
  • Approve cost allocation of labour and third-party invoices
  • Process bi-weekly production bonus
  • Prepare and submit accurate invoices to CanMine clients


Qualifications & Skills:

  • An engineering, business or related degree/diploma or equivalent experience, coupled with 3 years of project experience
  • Experience with underground mining or tunnelling would be an asset
  • Strong analytical skills and accuracy
  • Knowledge of contract terminology, practices and concepts would be an asset
  • Pro-active, deadline oriented, self-motivated and results oriented
  • Superior communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external partners
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with advanced excel skills, is essential
  • Understanding of business processes and how they interact within the larger business system
  • Ability to understand & work with discretion regarding confidential information
